The Aftermath: Eagles 34, Jaguars 17

The Jacksonville Jaguars put up a good fight in the first half, but ultimately they fell short at Philadelphia on Sunday, losing 34-17.

Allen Hurns

The Jaguars fell just short at the end as they played conservative during the second half after 2 TD strikes to rookie free agent Allen Hurns. Chad Henne had a solid game vs. the Eagles, passing for over 260 yards and 2 touchdowns with 0 interceptions, for a passer rating of 89. Marqise Lee had a solid game, catching 6 balls for 62 yards. Allen Robinson had 1 catch for 0 yards. The defense had an outstanding game, picking off Nick Foles and forcing two fumbles (and recovering both!). Toby Gerhart had a rough day, running for just over 40 yards. The Jaguars led 17-0 at halftime but gave up 34 unanswered points in the second half.

PLAYER OF THE GAME: Allen Hurns

He caught four balls for 102 yards and two touchdowns… for a nomination for rookie of the week.

BEST SIDE OF BALL: DEFENSE

The offense may have had an outstanding first half, but fell apart during the second. The defense remained consistent and stopped Foles many times. They got worn out late in the game, but you can’t do anything about that.

JOSH SCOBEE

He had a rough day, hitting one for 49 yards out of three. He missed a 50 yard-er and had a 30 yard-er blocked. He made two out of two extra points.

BLAKE BORTLES

Did not play at all during the season opener…

We will have more in-depth analysis later during the week, so stay tuned to Generation Teal!
