Jaguars vs. Eagles: 2014 Season Opener Preview

The Jacksonville Jaguars will face off against the Philadelphia Eagles Sunday, at 1:00 pm EST. View our predictions, stats, and more right here at Generation Teal!

Blake Bortles

The Jacksonville Jaguars have a 3-1 record against the Eagles in the regular season, but with the Eagles farther ahead than the Jags in their rebuilding process, who will earn the victory this time?

Our Prediction: Eagles 24, Jaguars 14

While the Jaguars are improving in what has been dubbed as “Year Two” under head coach Gus Bradley, the Eagles have a stunning offense compared to the Jags. The defense is key in this match up between the two teams.

Key Jaguars Player: Toby Gerhart

With Cecil Shorts III ruled out against the Eagles, and Chad Henne as the starting quarterback, our focus turns to the running game. The Jaguars need Gerhart to perform like Barry Sanders to have an impact for the Jags. He is filling in after MJD, so remember to keep an eye on him.

Blake Bortles

Blake Bortles had an outstanding preseason, as he threw for two touchdowns and over 500 yards. Chad Henne gets the nod to start, but with a young offensive line, we might see Bortles sometime this season.

The Final Word

While the Jaguars are improving, we don’t think the Jaguars will be ready for an opponent like the Eagles, but who knows? Get ready for the 2014 season!
